Square D Model 6 Standard vs Industrial MCC Buckets

Quick guide to Square D Model 6 Standard vs Industrial MCC buckets: gray vs white interiors, saddles, disconnect handles, and terminal blocks.

Square D Model 6 Standard vs Industrial MCC Buckets

When you are matching a Square D Model 6 MCC bucket, do not stop at "Model 6."

Standard and Industrial Model 6 buckets can look close from the outside. The small inside details are what usually matter when you are trying to build, replace, or identify one correctly.

The Main Difference

Standard Model 6 Bucket

  • Usually has a gray interior
  • Uses gray standard saddles
  • Built with the options selected for that job
  • Good fit when the lineup is standard and does not need the extra Industrial package features

Industrial Model 6 Bucket

  • Usually has a white interior
  • Major internal parts are white
  • The bottom plate is typically white
  • Common industrial features are included in the package
  • Some builds may use a 12-inch saddle plus a 3-inch extender, depending on the bucket setup

What Stays the Same

A few parts do not change just because the bucket is Standard or Industrial:

  • The disconnect handle size stays the same
  • In the example shown, the disconnect handle stays gray
  • The terminal block assembly is common between Standard and Industrial versions
  • You still need to match the bucket height, disconnect type, amp rating, and stab details

Why This Matters When Ordering a Replacement Bucket

A bucket can be "Model 6" and still be wrong for the lineup.

Check these before ordering:

  • Interior color: gray or white
  • Bucket height: 6", 12", 18", 24", etc.
  • Saddle setup: standard saddle or extender saddle
  • Disconnect type: breaker or fused switch
  • Amp rating and voltage
  • Terminal block layout if control wiring is involved
  • Rear stab configuration

Skipping these details is how you end up with a bucket that almost fits, which is the same as not fitting when the plant is down.

What to Send MCC Depot

For the fastest match, send clear photos of:

  • Front of the bucket
  • Side and rear of the bucket
  • Saddle area
  • Stabs
  • Nameplate
  • Disconnect handle
  • Terminal blocks and control wiring, if present

Also include:

  • MCC brand and model
  • Bucket height
  • Amp rating
  • Voltage
  • Breaker or fused disconnect
  • Any notes on Standard vs Industrial construction

Bottom Line

Standard Model 6 usually means gray interior parts and gray standard saddles.

Industrial Model 6 usually means white interior parts, and some setups may need a saddle extender.

The handle and terminal block assembly may be the same, but the saddle and interior package still need to be checked. Do not guess from memory. Match the bucket in front of you.
